Sponsored and staffed by the Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great, the Mount Saint Macrina House of Prayer is the site of worship for the Annual Pilgrimage. For over 75 years, thousands of people have made the Pilgrimage to honor Our Lady of Perpetual Help and offer their prayers, hopes, needs and desires before the holy Icon.
The Mount Saint Macrina Annual Pilgrimage is the oldest and largest Byzantine Catholic Pilgrimage in the United States. The Pilgrimage is a special ministry of the Sisters of St. Basil the Great, following the decree of Pope Pius XI. On March 25th, 1935, Pope Pius XI requested that theSisters spread devotion to the Theotokos in honor of our Lady. Ever since, thousands of pilgrims have made their way to Mount Saint Macrina House of Prayer to offer Our Lady their prayers and participate in the annual festivities.
Participate in an array of religious activities and services take place, including the beautiful Divine Liturgy, the Mystery of Reconciliation, a children's procession and a candlelight procession. There are also educational opportunities for both young and old, such as special programs for children, teens and young adults, private pastoral counseling, the session of bereavement and discussion forums.
During the Pilgrimage the Holy Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is enshrined near the Mount Saint Macrina House of Prayer. The Icon is carried in processions during the opening services of the Pilgrimage and throughout the weekend. The Mount Saint Macrina Annual Pilgrimage takes place every Labor Day Weekend, the first weekend in September.
